Bitmain has opened a bitcoin farm in Texas,  covering an area of 13,354 hectares! Chinese producer ASIC claims that it is currently the largest bitcoin mine in the world. Bitmain created it in cooperation with DMG and the Rockdale Municipal Development District.

This is the third cryptocurrency mining project that Bitmain is implementing in the United States. The Rockdale farm is another milestone for the company and a significant step in its vision to help push the global implementation of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s largest-ever mine from Bitmain

According to an earlier announcement, the construction of the 25 MW bitcoin mine commenced on a plot of more than 13,000 hectares belonging to the Aluminium Company of America as early as 2018. Now, with a capacity of 50 MW, Bitmain probably opens the door to a new branch of its empire.

The new bitcoin mine is the next step in the Bitmain plan to build the world’s largest mining farm with a capacity of up to 300 MW.

Texas has long been an energy capital of the world. Many global energy companies have their bases in Houston. For this reason, it seems natural that Bitmain has also docked its resources there. On top of that, of course, there is the desire to establish a strategic presence in the United States.

Bitmain Rockdale – ‘a stable and efficient energy resource in Texas’.

Clinton Brown, chief project manager of the Rockdale facility in Bitmain, said:

We are excited about the launch of this facility, which is important for Bitmain’s global expansion plans. The stable and efficient energy resources in Texas are fundamental to the inevitable scale of growth of the cryptocurrencies mining industry.

Expressing similar excitement about the prospect of this project, Mayor of Rockdale, John King commented:

Bitmain will be the future for the development of new industrial projects in Rockdale, Texas. We are pleased to be able to continue building partnerships.

Within this project, Bitmain established cooperation with DMG Blockchain Solutions, a software consulting company that focuses on blockchain projects. DMG will provide back-end and front-end hosting and management services for the mining facility, ensuring the highest performance of the equipment installed by Bitmain.

Sheldon Bennett, DMG’s Chief Operating Officer added:

This mining facility is an important milestone in the development of the mining farm industry. We are proud to work with Bitmain, a leading innovator in this sector.

Bitmain also expects the new bitcoin mine to create 400 new jobs in Houston in the next two years. The industry giant plans to invest another $500 million in this sector over the next seven years.

Not only Bitmain

Although it seems to be a positive step towards the adoption of the cryptocurrencies in the USA, Bitmain is not the only company that invests heavily in mining space. Earlier this year, Blockstream revealed its plans for a similar 300 MW bitcoin production facility in Quebec, Canada, and Adel, Georgia.
